The organizations who received the first round of funding include: Bridgeport Prospers (United Way of Coastal Fairfield County), Carver Foundation of Norwalk, Children's Learning Centers of Fairfield County, Norwalk Community College Foundation, Person to Person, Domus Kids, and Horizons Bridgeport. The funds will help to reduce and eliminate disparities which impact the region’s most vulnerable students, as well as parents, and guardians, teachers, and staff. IN THE NEWS: $300K in critical education grant funding has been provided to seven local nonprofits through Fairfield County Business Collaborative for Education Equity, in partnership with Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. Thank you to all the youth involved in organizing this effort and everyone who donated from our Amazon wishlist! With these duffels, the young men will focus more on their work in the program than getting these essential supplies for themselves. In support of Invictus, our youth organized a drive to gather the necessities to pack seventeen duffel bags each bag contained a package of socks, underwear, and t-shirts, a sweatshirt, a blanket, some granola bars, a toothbrush, and a hygiene kit. Domus also offers school engagement, workforce development, street outreach, and restorative justice-based court diversion for juvenile first offenders. Invictus is one of the many services provided by Domus in Stamford. Following the session, the youth became inspired and started to work on a project for Invictus, a program that helps young men, ages 17 through 25, return from incarceration through goal-setting and job training and placement. Thank you to the 7 community partners for helping us bring P2P on Wheels back out in the community, including: Yerwood Center/Boys & Girls Club of Stamford, Stamford Manor, Ferguson Library South End Branch, Quintard Manor, DOMUS, Building One Community, and St. For residents requesting casework services, a P2P caseworker will meet with clients to assess immediate need to help them plan for the future while providing financial assistance for items such as rent and utilities. The mobile food pantry offers healthy, nutritious groceries, including fresh produce, dairy items, meat and poultry, and shelf-stable goods. P2P on Wheels was temporarily out of service during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. P2P on Wheels, aka ‘Phil the Food Truck’, provides residents with both a self-select mobile food pantry as well as access to a bilingual, P2P trained caseworker. We're thrilled to announce that P2P on Wheels, our mobile food pantry and social services truck, is open again in the city of Stamford starting today. P2P on Wheels is officially back on the road!
